CA-NAME Board Retreat 2016

The Board of the CA-NAME Chapter met in mid-August to reflect and plan the next year.   In 2016-2017 we will continue our work to support Ethnic Studies with the following overarching goal: Support the creation and development of K-12 community responsive critical multicultural education/ethnic studies curriculum and pedagogy across California public schools. We divided this goal into five areas: 1) Advocate for ethnic studies programs in districts with involvement in district ethnic studies committees and through writing letters of support; 2) Increase our public voice through advocacy of ethnic studies on our website; 3) Provide resources for ethnic studies on our website; 4) Provide professional development for ethnic studies to school districts in a California region; 5) Hold our annual conference with a focus on community responsive professional development for teacher educators.
